Welcome to Umdloti
Just north of Umhlanga, against a backdrop of sugar-cane covered hills and lush sub-tropical countryside, you will find the seaside village of Umdloti. Named after the Umdloti River, which in turn is named after the wild tabacco plant that grows on its banks, Umdloti is a quiet coastal hamlet that offers golden beaches, safe warm ocean waters and excellent fishing.
Just 30km (about 11 miles) North of Durban and up the road from Umhlanga, the Umdloti outskirts is also home to the spectacular Sibaya casino. Central to some of South Africa's greatest tourist attractions, Umdloti boasts one of the largest natural tidal pools in Southern Africa.
Offering easy access to the Zululand battlefields and various adventure sports such as microlighting, parachuting, flying, and more, it also offers some of the most spectacular dolphin watching. Additional activities close by are horse-riding, safaris, and off road quad biking, while its proximity to Umhlanga's Gateway Theatre of Shopping, provides a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities like movies, IMax, restaurants, climbing wall and wave pool.
Within the Umdloti village visitors will find all the basic amenities, including cash points, various shops and coffee bars.
